Does the idea of a “ blind date ” make you want to run for cover. If you have a friend that has been dying to fix you up, stop hemming and hawing, and instead say, “Sure why not.” It’s a great opportunity to meet someone new. And here are just a few of the reasons for taking her number and giving her a call.

Setting Expectations

Don’t think too much about the upcoming blind date. Just think of it as an opportunity to meet and experience someone new. Try to make it a positive experience, even if it doesn’t result in a love connection.

Date Idea

Well you could be “Mr. Cautious” here and ask her out for a drink, then if it doesn’t work out, you’ll be out of there in a half hour. But that’s not really the best attitude for your blind date, now is it. Instead, pick a date idea where you can really get to know her better, or involve yourself in an activity together where you can experience each other on an active engaging level. Going to the movies would be an inactivity – so nix that idea. You will just be sitting next to each other as you experience something separately. Some better ideas would be bowling, miniature golf, going to the zoo, heading to the science museum or meeting for lunch. Spending a few hours with someone isn’t going to kill you. And if you end up really liking her, you want to have made a good impression on the first date.

The Date

When you meet her, greet her with a smile. You may be instantly attracted to her, but then again you may know instantly that the attraction isn’t there. But it really shouldn’t matter. You want to get this know this woman, and by doing this, you will benefit from the experience. Throughout the date, listen to what she has to say, and learn about all the ins and outs of what makes her so unique from the other billions of people in this world. As long as you listen, as long as you smile, you will have a good time.

Date’s Over

Be honest. Tell her you had a good time. Because if you took this advice, that will be a true statement. If you aren’t interested in seeing her again, don’t tell her you’ll give her a call, because it isn’t true. If you want to see her again, tell her so.

Disaster Date – Was it Worth It

Of course it was worth it. If the date is a disaster, you will have a great laugh for years to come. When your buddies get together at happy hour, football games, whatever, the “blind date horror story” will surely make it in the conversation getting lots of laughs and surely the highlight of everyone’s afternoon.
